Helicon Privacy Policy
Helicon is a writing studio for macOS published by PhDTutorials LLC. It is designed to work without collecting information from you. We do not operate an account system, analytics service, advertising network, crash reporter, or manuscript-processing backend for Helicon.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information, usage data, analytics data, diagnostic data, location data, device identifiers, contacts, or documents from Helicon.
Helicon does not sell data, share data with data brokers, or track you across apps or websites. Your manuscript is never uploaded, and it is never used to train a model.
Your project file
Each Helicon project is a single .helicon file saved wherever you choose. It holds your manuscript, plan, beats, cast, canon, research, annotations, snapshots, and progress history. That file stays under your control on your own storage. We cannot see it, access it, or recover it for you.
If you save a project into iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or another sync folder, that service handles the file under its own terms and your own account. Helicon has no view into it.
Writing sessions and progress
Word counts, session times, streaks, goals, and pace are computed on your Mac and stored inside your project file. None of it is transmitted anywhere.
Consistency checks
Helicon’s consistency review of ladders, laws, abilities, and ascensions runs entirely on your Mac against the rules you defined. No text is sent off the device for analysis, and no AI service is involved.
Import and export
Importing Markdown, DOCX, Fountain, or Scrivener projects reads files you select from your own disk. Exported files (Markdown, DOCX, ePub 3, FDX, and PDF) are written to the location you choose. We do not receive a copy of anything you import or export.
Apple services
Helicon is distributed through the Mac App Store and uses Apple system services such as StoreKit, security-scoped document access, and operating-system diagnostics. Apple may process information through those services according to Apple’s privacy policy and your Apple ID or device settings. We do not receive personal information from those Apple services through Helicon.
Purchases
The 30-day trial and the lifetime unlock are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store and StoreKit. The app checks your purchase entitlement so it can determine whether the trial is active and whether writing is unlocked. We do not receive your payment card information, Apple ID, or personal purchase information from Helicon.
Network use
Helicon works offline. It does not phone home, check for content on our servers, or transmit your project. The Chorus room ships as a labeled preview and performs no hosted network actions. If a hosted service is offered in the future, it will be separate, optional, clearly labeled, and covered by its own terms and privacy notice.
Children
Helicon does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Data deletion
Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, there is no account data for us to delete. Deleting a .helicon project file removes that project’s contents, including its snapshots; deleting the app removes locally stored app settings.
Changes to this policy
If Helicon’s privacy practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will be revised.
