Quill Privacy Policy
Quill is a handwritten notebook app for iPad published by PhDTutorials LLC. It is designed to work without collecting information from you. We do not operate an account system, analytics service, advertising network, crash reporter, AI service, or note-processing backend for Quill.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information, usage data, analytics data, diagnostic data, location data, device identifiers, contacts, photos, or calendars from Quill.
Quill does not sell data, share data with data brokers, track you across apps or websites, or use your data for advertising. Your handwriting is never used to train a model.
Notes and imported documents
Handwriting, note metadata, notebooks and tags, imported PDFs and images, and media-linking timelines remain in Quill’s storage on your iPad. They are not sent to a Quill server.
This data is stored in the app’s private container or, if you enable it, your own iCloud Drive container. We cannot see it, access it, or recover it for you.
Audio recordings
Quill requests microphone access only when you start a recording. Recordings are saved beside the note on your iPad and are never uploaded by Quill.
Transcription
Transcription of recordings and imported videos runs on your iPad using Apple’s on-device speech framework. Audio for transcription is not uploaded by Quill, and transcripts are stored beside the note like any other note content.
Video and YouTube
Local video files you import stay on your iPad. When you add or play a YouTube video, Quill loads that video’s thumbnail and embedded player from YouTube, and YouTube or Google may receive network information and apply their own privacy policy. Adding a video never uploads your note, handwriting, or recording to YouTube.
Apple services
Quill is distributed through the App Store and uses Apple system services such as iCloud Drive, StoreKit, PencilKit, on-device speech recognition, and operating-system diagnostics. Apple may process information through those services according to Apple’s privacy policy and your Apple ID or device settings. We do not receive personal information from those Apple services through Quill.
iCloud Drive
If iCloud Drive is available and you enable it, Quill may store notes in your private iCloud container so they back up and appear on your own Apple devices. Apple processes that data under your Apple ID and Apple’s terms. Quill cannot access your iCloud account, and we do not receive, store, or access your synced notes. If iCloud Drive is unavailable, Quill falls back to local storage and continues to work offline.
Purchases
The 30-day free trial and the Quill Pro unlock are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. The app checks your purchase entitlement so it can unlock Pro features and determine whether the trial is active. We do not receive your payment card information, Apple ID, or personal purchase information from Quill.
Exports and sharing
When you export a note as a PDF or PNG, the file is created locally and shared only through the destination you choose in the system share sheet. We do not receive a copy of exported files.
Children
Quill does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Data deletion
Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, there is no account data for us to delete. Moving a note to Recently Deleted keeps its ink, recording, imported document, and video timeline available for recovery; choosing Delete Forever or emptying Recently Deleted removes those files. Deleting Quill removes locally stored app data, and iCloud data is managed through your iCloud account.
Changes to this policy
If Quill’s privacy practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above will be revised.
